Lifestyle Construction Group was founded in 2015 by James Dougherty and Lionel Fortuno. With over 25 years of combined construction experience, James and Lionel have managed over 1 billion dollars in projects ranging from luxury residential, restaurants, high end retail, commercial high rises, and government projects.
Having started their ambitious careers working for large commercial general contractors, they learned building principals on ground up high rise projects which require precise layout, extensive coordination, rigorous follow up and organization. These unwavering principals have molded their work ethic and have shaped how Lifestyle Construction Group operates today.
James Dougherty
President
James Dougherty is a seasoned General Contractor and began his career with Suffolk Construction in 2005. His commitment and attention to detail allowed for him to grow quickly within the organization, eventually earning the title of Superintendent. He was involved in the construction of several large scale educational and government centers, museums, retail/mixed use centers, condominiums and hotels throughout the U.S.. His vast experience allowed for him to advance to the boutique organization, The 22 Group. There, James was quickly promoted to General Superintendent where he specialized in the construction management of many flagship stores in the Design District in Miami, nationwide build outs for Design Within Reach and multi-million-dollar custom homes. In 2015, James saw a need to change the game in the construction industry and decided to curate his own brand. Lifestyle Construction Group was formed where James serves as President.
Lionel Fortuno
President
Lionel Fortuno began his construction career as a laborer, all while taking night classes at Florida Atlantic University to obtain his degree in Business. He quickly moved up through the ranks with Plaza Construction, (formerly KM-Plaza) working on one of Miami’s tallest towers. By the time he was 22, he was promoted to Foreman, Assistant Superintendent and then ran multiple projects as Superintendent. He completed many projects for Plaza. He then decided to broaden his career and took a job working for a custom home builder in Miami Beach. From there, he went to Brickell Group construction to work on commercial office build outs and restaurants, before returning to Plaza Construction to focus on the Luxury Residential Division. His experience includes high rise and ground up construction, retail, office spaces, restaurants, homes, and high end condos. In 2015, Lionel and his partner James, started Lifestyle Construction Group.
